"Opt-Out requests can take 5-7 days to take effect. However, in most cases you can expect your opt-out request to be processed within 24-48 hours." (checkpeople.com/opt-out, via search-index text; page itself returned a bot challenge)

What you'll need

  • Email verification (email-gated: verify before searching for your record)
  • Record search with name and location; CAPTCHA
  • Date of birth: unconfirmed (third-party guides conflict)
  • Phone alternative: 1-800-267-2122; privacy-rights page checkpeople.com/privacy-rights

Step by step

  1. Go to checkpeople.com/opt-out and enter your email address.
  2. Open the verification email and click the link.
  3. Search for your record (name and location; some guides report a date-of-birth field) and complete the CAPTCHA.
  4. Identify your record using age, past addresses and relatives, then select it for removal.
  5. Click any further confirmation link emailed to you.
  6. After a few days, search your name again (clear your browser cache first).

Tips and gotchas

  • CheckPeople says you may need to clear your browser history to avoid seeing a cached page when checking removal.
  • Opting out on behalf of someone else requires being their authorized agent.
  • Ignore third-party claims that CheckPeople is owned by PeopleConnect; the registry lists it as CheckPeople, LLC and no first-party source confirms a parent.

Will it stay removed?

unconfirmed by CheckPeople; third-party guides say listings can reappear as data is refreshed
